Here is an update from Emily's Uncle:

"We saw Emily, her Mum, Dad, A, and sisters in the ITU today and Emily is doing as well as anyone can hope at this stage. There's a long hard road ahead, and we must keep all our hopes and prayers for her coming.

Typically, Emily failed to understand the words 'heavy sedation' and defied medics this afternoon by opening her eyes widely, beaming a huge smile, and then chalking up a '1' in the air to signify a great step forward.

Her Mum, Dad, A and sisters thank everyone for their fantastic support and well wishes. A special mention to Rob who has been particularly inspirational to Emily!"

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY! Emily's jumped the highest hurdle and even though there's plenty more to come, we are all behind her! Sending lots and lots and lots of love, positive thoughts and sparkly, pink, fluffy hugs! xxxx

"Intensive Therapy Unit"? I love dialectical differences between countries! :p

But anyhow, good to see her pretty chipper (under the circumstance). Kina's immediate recovery seemed pretty quick to me (me not being a cfer or tx patient, and not knowing what to expect), and Emily shows signs that the same might happen for her. Just hope she doesn't break out in a cheerleading move from her bed like one girl here in the U.S. did on the ambulance stretcher after a fall she took at a game she was working.

Good to hear these updates from time to time, even if it's as benign as, say, a toe wiggle.

Good job, Em. :)

Heavy Sedation - yes we remember that with Lucy. Hours after being back in the tx cubicle, there she was trying to sit up and waving at us. Not that she remembers any of that now.

Awww Emily, you are showing us all how strong you are. We are all right behind you sweetheart.

Lots of love to you and your family.

Bev and Lucy xx

Oh. My. God. That is absolutelybloodyfantasticallymarvellous!
Been a bit out of the loop these last few days due to a combination of Jake's 12th birthday celebrations and computer difficulties.

Jake says "Well done!" And being at a complete loss for words, can only echo that.
Love, best wishes and luck to Emily and all her family. This really is lovely news. :0) xx

Fantastic news :-) Somehow I'm not too surprised that Emily defied the 'heavy sedation', in fact I would be disappointed with anything less!

Thoughts to all Em's family just now, and all my love to Emily.
