I'm off to Nottingham tomorrow.

I'm heading up there to attend a CF Ball, organised by a mother of two boys with CF. I'm doing a speech, and weirdly, I'm quite nervous.

I'm not exactly sure why; I think it's because I'm very aware that a lot of the people in the audience are parents of CFers. Therefore I want to balance it right and not give anyone sleepless nights! But at the same time the hard side of CF needs to be told to ensure that people understand why the money needs to be raised.

Don't get me wrong, I am also very much looking forward to it, especially seeing some familiar faces. And wearing my lovely green dress (woo)

I just hope I have aimed my speech at the right level and that the ball is the success it deserves to be. Will blog about it after the weekend, have a good one all.

Well if truth be told, and it will be!! This Ball was organised on a mutually convenient day so that YOU could be there. I couldn't make it any later in the year as the Hotel I wanted to use is fully booked with weddings from May onwards and you couldn't do the date in May because it's Jac's walk. I wanted you to speak because you've "been there, done that, and got the t-shirt" (and probably have a wardrobe full of them by now!! You are, and always will be, truly outstanding and inspirational. You have guts, willpower, balls (ahem!!) and stamina to give parents like me hope, and I can't wait to see you in a posh frock as opposed to a pink tutu, a pair of trainers and standing in the middle of a muddy field!! BRING IT ON!! See you tomorrow - woooo, erm, can't wait!! xxx

it doesn't matter how hard or difficult a story you tell them. They already know that life with CF is hard, and that there is sadness ahead. What you give is HOPE, proof of the amazing things a person can accomplish and that CF need not hold anyone back. Remember, some of these kids will have been born a whole 20 years after you, so they're starting from an even stronger position.

Shine from the darkness for them. That's what they need.

I can see what you mean with the speech. Tricky balance but I am sure you will have got it right and I echo what the others have said about your story bringing hope to those parents. Have a lovely time and well done Lorraine. I am looking forward to hearing all about it. x x x x
